MONTHLY MEETING OF COUNCIL At the monthly mooting last evening of tlie Otago Acclimatisation Society Council there wore present Mr R. Fountain (in the chair), and Messrs S. F. A burn, C. A. Wilson, .). M'G. Wilkie, H. G. Williams, A. Digby Smith, T. Long. A. J. White, S. H. Barnes, W. Refills, G. I‘cate. G. Porter, J. M. Paterson, G. K. 'Turner, and C. ML. Greensiade. It was announced that tho various angling clubs throughout the province had been circularised, soliciting their assistance in the issue of hooks io selected anglers in which it was suggested a record of catches for the coming season be kept, the books to bo returned to the society at the cud of the season. • Tho report of the Game Committee recommended' that the taking of ducks for investigation purposes next April by the society's part-time rangers bo confined to the first week of that month, and that notices be erected at Tomahawk Lagoon warning intruders that the bird? thereon were protected. —Approved. 1 It was announced that a total of 590 young pheasants had been recently liberated from the Waitati hatcheries. A report on the hatcheries was preceded by Air Wilkie, who recommended thiit certain leaks in the dam he renam'd. anil that a new store shed be built, largely from material on the property —A pproved. It was decided to replace the present wire netting on Inn of tho pheasant runs with smaller mesh wire. On tho motion of Mr G. Porter, it was decided that in future a separate account ho kept of the pheasant-breed-ing Mile of the society’s activities, with a view to revising the present system ci the end of the financial year. Mr WiLon remarked that on the liberations made this year it would cost the society 0-‘ ! 00 a year to buy the birds from outside
