BLITZ FOILED
HOW BANK OF N.Z. WAS SAVED (P.A.) WF.LLI XGTON, August 19. How the Bank of New Zealand in London was saved from destruction by lire following an air blitz, was described by Air David F. Reid, who recently retired from the position of London manager and has now returned to New Zealand. Mr Reid said a large tank of water had been installed on the roof and! hoses put to very floor. While the buildings around were burning fiercely, the members of the staff kept the fire away from the bank with those hoses, thus giving the bank protection which was not available to other premises. Ho said tlie bank suffered comparatively slight structural damage, and was now operating again in the game building.
