EXECUTIVE MEETING Mrs Sonntag presided over the executive Permission was granted to the secondary school boys to use No. 4 ground on the Oval for match purposes only on Friday afternoons. Advice was received that the umpires’ theory examinations would be held on July 14, entries to close m Wellington on July 2. , .. . Warburton. it was decided to write to the Mens Hockey Association asking them to do something to stop the dangerous practice of boys hitting balls about the pavilion and at the back of the Oval grounds. Advice was received that the association had been allotted Saturday morning, July 12, to stock the dugout in the Octagon for patriotic purposes. Players are urged to return art union books and money immereported that a number of players were not wearing correct uniform, and that it is sometimes difficult for umpires to identify the teams. Ankle-length socks were also being worn, and this is not allowed. They must be knee-high or long. Congratulations were extended to the winners of the seven-d-side tumament —Kings (A grade) and Gleniross (B grade). Thanks were due to umpires and those who helped to make the tournament a success. A presentation of a set of glasses, with a jug and tray, was made to Mrs Henderson (nee Miss Ada Mackie) at the tournament in recognition of her services to hockey. SATURDAY’S MATCHES.
