DX Club, 45 Driver street, St. Kilda, 5.2. SHORT WAVE NOTES. Morocco. The well-known station Radio Maroe has now moved to its old channel of 12,830 kc, 23.38 m. The signals are not very strong. The other frequency used by CNR is 8,035 kc, 37.25 m. This outlet comes in much better than the former. The station can be identified by its three-note chimes, ami is heard in the mornings at 7. Power of CNR is 25kw. Algeria. The French stations at Algiers can be heard every morning operating on a frequency of 12,120 kc, 24.75 m, under the call of TPZ. Talks in French and recorded items are given from 8 a.m. The other Algerian station is TPZ2 on 8,960 kc, 33.48 m. Both these stations can be heard at good strength at 8 a.m. United States. Lately, American aeroplane transmitters have been heard on 5 megacycles. These transmissions have been heard most evenings between 8 and 9. They are probably the standard type of 100watters, and those heard have been air liners and aerodrome stations belonging to the PCA connection (PittsburgChicago Airways Inc.), and also flights and groups of army planes on manoeuvres using the PCA beam. These stations can be heard at good strength. SHORT WAVE LOG. ZHPI, 9,705 kc, 30.92 m, Singapore.— One of the regular stations heard well every night at 12. ZHP2, 6,170 kc, 48.62 m, same location.—This new station is heard well at 1 a.m.; relays ZHPI. ZHJ, 6,095 kc, 49.23 m, Penang.—The Penang Wireless Society’s station comes in with good signals. English till 1.40 a.m. Relays news from London at 1 a.m. OOCQ. 8,850 kc, .33.90 m, Havana, Cuba.—Very good signals at midnight and also at 5 p.m. COCO, 8,700 kc, 34.48 m. same, location. —This station opens at 12.30 a.m. and is almost as strong as COCQ. PLP, ll,oookc. 27.27 m, Bandoeng, Java.—Heard well nightly from 9.30. XMHA. 11,870 kc, 25.27 m, Shanghai. —Opens 9 p.m. with an excellent programme. Signals are very loud. TPZ2, 8,960 kc. 33.40 m, Algiers.— Heard well at 7.30 a.m. CNR, 12,830 kc, 23.38 m. Rabat, Morocco.—Heard weakly at 7.30 a.m,, but can be recognised. CNR, 8,035 kc, 37.25 m, same location. Much better than the other frequency. XPSA, 8,480 kc, 35.36 m, Kweichow,
China.—This Chinese station is heard (very loud) from 11 p.m. BROADCAST. Europe. The European broadcast stations have been heard at daybreak. Some can bo hoard with very strong signals, the best being Radio Mediterranee on l.DlQkc. This station has been hoard closing at 7.15 a.in. with the French national anthem. Stations heard are: On 950 kc, Breslau, Germany, power lOOkw; 1,040 kc, Ronnes-Bretagno, France, 120 kw; 1.310 kc, Radio Mediterranee, France. 27kw; I.SCGkc, Bordcaux-sud-Ouest, Franco, 2okw.
