DUNEDIN BURNS CLUB
FIRST MONTHLY CONCERT Mr Arthur Macdonald, president of the Dunedin Burns Club, presided at the first of the new season’s monthly concerts in the Town Hall Concert Chamber last evening. Mr Macdonald, in opening the proceedings, paid a tribute to the loyalty of members during the past year, when the club celebrated its fiftieth anniversary, and exhorted all to keep alive the spirit of the association, and to co-operate in patronising the monthly concerts. The programme, which was enthusiastically received, comprised the following items: —Opening ode, ‘ Star o’ Robbie Burns ’. part-song, ‘ Bonnie Dundee’ (choir)'; song ‘There’s Nae Luck About the House ’ (Miss Doris Adcock); part-song, ‘ Hail to the Chief ’ (choir); song, ‘ Aukl Scotch Sangs ’ (Mr Walter Mitchell); cornet solo, selected (Mr Ralph Francis) ; part-song, ‘ The Last Rose of Summer ’ (Miss Dorothy Barron and choir) ; song, ‘ Turn Ye To Mo ’ (Mr Bren. Wilkins) ; recital, selected (Miss Billie Loan); song. ‘ Bonnie Prince Charlie ’ (Mrs W. Hall-Masters) ; part-songs, ‘The Campbells Are Coinin’’ (choir); solo and chorus, ‘ Bonnie -Wee Thing ’ (Mr Rav Marshall and choir) ; double sword dance (Norma Taylor and Jean Outsell); song, ‘ Mary ’ (Mr T. H. Black and choir); song, ‘My Ain Folk ’ (Miss Eileen Gillies and choir) ; pianoforte duet, ‘William Tell’ (Misses Olive and Ellice Nieper) ; song, ‘ Hame o’ Mine’ (Miss Sadie Anderson and choir) ; solo and chorus, ‘ The Fishermen of England ’ (Mr John Devcreanx and choir) ; and part-song. ‘ Home. We Must No Longer Stay ’ (Lyric choir). The conductors were Messrs J. T. Leech and W. Armstrong. Mrs J. M'Kinloy was the accompanist, and Mr .1. Sutherland was M.C.
