MEXICO CITY SHAKEN ALARMING REPORTS FROM THE INTERIOR Proas Association—By Telegraph—Copyright MEXICO CITY, April 16. A heavy earth tremor shook the city to-day. 'The telephone services were interrupted, bricks, stonework, and cornices crashed to the and large fires occurred in the industrial section. It is reported without confirmation that 30 people are dead as the result of an earthquake in Colima City, where half the buildings were destroyed. The damage in Mexico City is estimated at 3,000,000 pesos. More alarming reports have been received from the interior. Strong earthquakes are reported from the vicinity of the volcanoes Orizaba, Cofre, and Perote. WIDE AREA AFFECTED COLIMA VOLCANO ERUPTS AGAIN MEXICO, April 16. (Received April 17, at 1 p.m.) The latest reports of yesterday’s earthquake indicate a disturbance oyer a wide area at Colima and, 275 miles to the west. Mexico City suffered the severest damage. It is estimated that 15,000 people are homeless and that many are dead or were injured. Colima volcano erupted again, causing forest fires. Heavy casualties and destruction are feared in several other towns.
