OTAGO REGATTA

ANNUAL EVENT AT PORT CHALMERS Despite the north-east drizzle on Saturday. there was some good racing witnessed at the annual Otago regatta, held at Port Chalmers, the rowing events being specially well contested. In these events, of which there were 10, Port Chalmers secured four wins (including the senior fours), two seconds, and one third; Queen’s Drive three firsts, two seconds, and one third; Otago two firsts, four seconds, and one third; North End one first, one second, and six thirds; Otago University, one second. Miti won the All-comers’ yacht race, defeating Foam fairly easily. Manihi beat Wanipa by nearly m the 14-footers’ race, while Oakie scored over Val in the Takapuna class race by nearly lOmin. There was a very close finish in the allcomers’ motor boat race, Ugie winning by Isec only from Static, with Alma in third place 4see behind. The officials controlling the racing were:— Yacht and motor boat events—Judges, Messrs G. Currie and D. Cameron; timekeeper, Mr J. Robertson; handicappers— Messrs A. Grant, G. Currie, A.
