EXCURSIONS CANCELLED
TRAIN RUNNING NEXT SUNDAY DAY OF SPECIAL PRAYER 1 “ It seems rather unfortunate that the railways should be naming an excursion on the day that the King has asked to be set apart as a special day of prayer,” a correspondent writes. “ Is it too late to have this excursion cancelled, as it seems futile to call the nation to a day of prayer when people are being encouraged to make trips which are not conducive to its observance,” he adds. Upon inquiry at the Railway Departr ment office this morning the ‘ Star' was informed that all excursion train running scheduled for next Sunday (the day set aside as one for prayer) would be* cancelled. This would apply to the service throughout the whole of New Zealand.
