NOTES ON THE RACING [By St. Clair.] Gunga Din led over the first half-mile from Shanghai Peggy, Skipaway, Parrish Gipsy, and Lord Ernleigh; then Parrish Gipsy, who had made up her handicap quickly, took charge and drew dear. She led im.o the straight from Gelert and Lord Ernleigh, the latter goin£ to a break. Parrish Guido was not challenged in the run home and won very easily by live lengths from Galerl, who beat Skipaway a length. Lord Ernleigh was fourth.

The Trial Handicap was run in divisions. In the first Comcaway led out from Koesiau-and Scatterbrain, but after a couple of furlongs had been covered Scatterbrain took charge and led past the stand the first time from Comcaway, Koesiau, and Trevathan, with Brown Cloud making up his handicap very quickly. With half a mile to go Trevalhan was in charge from Koesian, Brown Cloud, and Comcaway, who were racing in close order. Trcvathan was just shading Brown Cloud and Comcaway as they turned into the straight, but in the run home Brown Cloud failed, ami Comeaway, catching Trevathnn inside the dis-, tancc,' beat him home by a length and a half. Monaco finished last three lengths away to beat Brown Cloud by a neck. :

In the second division Scarlet O’Hara and Recast began the best of the limit horses, and they raced together for over a mile clear of Bright Lass and Lustrous. Then Scarlet O’Hara drew clear and led acriss the top from Lustrus and Bright Lass together, Recast chopping away. Scarlet O'Hara was two lengths clear of Lustrous and Bright Lass at the home turn, and stayed on to beat Lustrous by a length, with Bright Lass half a length away third. Recast was 10 lengths oil fourth.

Cheval D’or, Liselte, and hunch Hornlost any chance they may have had in the President’s Handicap at the start, and Aidus led out from liellond and Polling Day. As they passed the stand Polling Day was in charge from Embargo, Aidus, Bellond, and Debtor. With half a mile to go Polling Day was a good length in front of Aides and Embargo racing together, with Bellond, June Tide, and Debtor n,ext. Polling Day still led Embargo round the far turn, but racing across the top Embargo ran up and took charge, leading into the straight from Polling Day, Aidus, and Bellond. Embargo drew away to win by five lengths from Stanza, who, with. Loyalist, finished very fast, and there were only heads between this pair and Bellond. Aidus was six lengths away next.

Bankstock, Indian Wrack, and Jorrocks were slow to begin, and April Direct led over the first half-mile from Crown Peak. Pleasant Guy, who had made up her handicap smartly, ran to the front before six furlongs had been covered, and was followed inlo the final lap by April Direct Gold Streak, Ghandi, and Indian Wrack. April Direct ami Crown Peak were Pleasant Guy’s nearest attendants racing across the top and into the straight, but they could make no impression on the leader, who won, with something in reserve, by two lengths from April Direct. Sister Polly was a, length away third, six lengths in front of Crown Peak, with Ghandi next and -Gold Streak last.

In the Wyndham Juvenile Stakes Fervent, Princess Claire, and Hippona lost their chances at the start.' Punctual and Guinea Gold were the smartest to begin, loading through the straight from Quito Good, Ackonora, and Play Safe. As they raced along the back Play Safe moved up and, passing the half-mile post, had taken charge from Guinea Gold, with Ackonora, Certainty, and Punctual racing in close order next. Then Certainty moved up and was first into the straight from Punctual, Play Safe, and Guinea Gold. Both Certainty and Play Safe broke shortly after entering the run home, leaving Guinea Gold in charge, but over the last 100yds Punctual finished very fast and beat Guinea Gold by a short length. Quite Good was three lengths away third, with another gap to Certainty and Ackonora.

Geelong, Gold Logan, and Worthy Addition broke at the start of the Menzies Handicap, a.nd Lord Ernleigh led over the first mile, his nearest attendants being 'Sea Max, Geelong, Traveltone, and Parrish Guy. Going to the back stretch Parrish Guy ran up and joined Lord Ernleigh in the lead, the pair being well clear of Sea Max and Geelong. Then Lord Ernleigh skipped, and Parrish Guy drew awav« three lengths clear of him with Sea Max, Geelong, and Jimmy Drusus next. Parrish Guy was four lengths clear of Lord Ernleigh at the home turn, with Sea Max, Geelong, and" Jimmy Drusus next. Parrish Guy won by six lengths from Jimmy Drusus, who beat Lord Ernleigh by a length, and Sea Max was half a length away fourth. Geelong and Betty Drusus were next.

Directly, Glean, Indianola, Passing By, and Gold Streak failed to begin in the Bdendale Handicap, and Waterloo Direct led out from Drummer Boy, Direct Bell, and Irish Guy. There was practically no change in this order for over a mile, and at the far turn Drummer Boy was just heading Waterloo Direct and Direct Bell. Drummer Boy was half a length in front of Direct Bell as they turned into the straight, with Erinack, Desert Cloud, and Happy King next. Direct Bell took charge before reaching the distance, and stayed on to win by a -length from Erinack, with Pontoon five lengtlis away third. Drummer Boy and Desert Cloud were next.

Sun Worshipper collided with the assistant starter as the tapes were released for the Final Handicap, and took no part in the race. Dan M’Grew led through the straight from Jorrocks, Bankstock, Turco, and Ghandi, all racing in close order. At the half-mile post Turco ran up and joined Dan M Grew in the lead, April Direct, running into third place. On the far turn Turco drew clear. Then Dan M’Grew dropped out ami April Direct was two lengths behind Turco as they turned into the straight, with Sister Polly six lengths away at the head of the others.
