OBITUARY
MS ALFRED HAMMOND [Pee United Psess Associaticit.J AUCKLAND, February 22. The death has occurred of Mr Alfred Hammond, formerly chief detective. He joined the police force in 1895 in Wellington, and accompanied the lain King George V. and Queen Mary when they toured the Dominion as Duke and Duchess of York. He was transferred tt> the Detective Office at Auckland in 1912, remaining here for 20 years before retiring with the rank of chief detective.
