ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS
CRUSHED BY FALLING TREE. Struck by a tree during felling operations at Mataura this morning, George Anderson, a single man, about 64 years, living at M'Quarrie street, Invercargill, was crushed and killed instantly, reports an Association message from Gore. A workmate, George Murphy, of Mataura, received a fracture of the left leg and was admitted to the Gore Hospital. Anderson was caught unawares when the tree slewed round. His chest was crushed against another trunk. PLUNGE OVER BANK. Losing control of his bicycle, "William Mitchell, a hoy residing at District road, Macandrew Bay, plunged over a bank and dislocated his right elbow yesterday. Ho was admitted to the Hospital.
