BOARD OF GOVERNORS Tiie monthly meeting of the Board of Governors of John M'Glashau College was hold on Thursday evening, when there were present Messrs T. C. Ross (in the chair), J. B. Hobbs, J. M‘George, C. G. Gray, A. G. Cameron, D. Tamiock, J. Begg, Ur H. I). Skinner, the Rev. A. C. \V. Standage, the Rev. J. J. Cairncy, and Ur A. 11. West (acting head master). Ur West- reported that there had been a small drop in the roll numbers, but that the number of boarders had been maintained. Thu examination results at the end of the year had been satisfactory, and of the 10 boys to leave from the sixth form, six were going on to the University and two were going into the Air Rotate. . The appointment of Mr T. R. Buxton to lake' Mr Simmers’s place in the primary school was confirmed. Mr Buxton will commence duties on March 1. The vacancy caused by Mr G. C. N. Johnson having left to join the Air Force has been filled bv Mr C. Warburton, a graduate of Otago University. It was decided to call tenders for the remodelling of the staff quarters, and to proceed with the work as soon as possible. Arrangements were made for (he printing of a now supply of the school prospectus. Various suggestions were made for war service that might be done by the boys, who were anxious to do what they could io help. Barracks were to be held in the middle of March. It was decided that a list- of old hoys who were away on active service bo posted in the ball. It is difficult to compile a complete list, and the bead master will be glad to receive information of any enlistments that arc not noted already in the college magazine for 1940.
