ANNUAL TOURNAMENT In the long twilight play was continued last evening until 8 o clock, and good progress was made with the games. This morning a drizzling rain made the lawns heavy, and play was not commenced until II o’clock. A very keen contest was seen in the game between Mrs Horn (Punga) and Mrs Keen (Invercargill). The latter seemed to have things all her own way, when a cut shot that just missed turned the tables in Mrs Horn’s favour, and she finished the winner by two points. Another interesting contest was that between Mesdames Beck and Rankin (Logan Park) and Mesdames Strang and Gerrard (Invercargill) in tho championship doubles. The local pair played a very steady game, finishing up with 13 points to the good. Now that many of the players have been weeded out, games should finish in much better time, and the tournament reach its conclusion towards the end of next week.
