SECOND ROUND GAMES [Psr United Press Association.] TIMARU, December 27. _ The Chess Congress was continued in Timaru to-night. The results of games completed in the second round were ; Fairburn v. Lennard; the former resigned. Scott v. Wade; the former resigned. Vincent v. Newell; the former resigned. In the third round Scott defeated Newick. ADJOURNED GAMES COMPLETED [Per United Press Association.] TIMARU, December 28. Adjourned games ' completed at the chess congress this morning were;— Championship.—First round; Allerhand (Wellington) beat Kelling (Wellington). ■ ' Open Event.—Hardy (Wellington) drew with Pearse (Timaru) ; Mrs Short (Auckland) beat Kcmshed (Timaru).
