"SING" FOR SPITFIRE FUND
The proceeds from to-morrow’s community sing at the Strand Theatre will be for the Spitfire Fund,, and it is hoped the Otago people will respond to this worthy cause. By permission of the Minister of Defence (Mr Jones), the Royal New Zealand Air Force Band, under the conductorship of Flight-lieutenant Gladstou Hill, will march from the railway station after the arrival of the Invercargill express to the Strand Theatre. Miss Mary Pratt is out of town, and will not be able to appear, but her sister (Miss Margaret Pratt) will sing in her place. For sale will be a bedroom clock, gold bangle, half-sovereign, pair jelly spoons, violin outfit (full size). Mr H. P. Desmoulins will be the leader, and Mr Alf. Pettitt will be at the piano. Donations may be sent to Mr J. F. Himburg, care of Begg’s. '
