BEAU VUE S SIXTH SUCCESSIVE WIN CANTALA STAKES TO GCLD SALUTE V.R.G. MEETING MELBOURNE, November 3. Tha weather was dull, but there was a good attendance (or the first day of the. Victoria Racing Club’s Meeting at Flemington. The going was good, but a head wind militated against fast limes The Derby opened sensationally. Pandect was side-on whon the barrier rose and was further hampered by a collision with Warbird, and both were hopelessly > left. Lucrative, always well placed, resisted a challenge from Tranquil Star. Dark Felt surprised by securing third place. Tidal Wave finished well in fourth place, with Scientist and Nightbeam never dangerous. Pandect did well to beat five others home. M. M’Curten, the rider of Lucrative, said the colt always had the race won, and should have a great show in the Cup. Lucrative has now won £11,200 in stakes. Sectional times: First half-mile 524 sec, last four furlongs 4945e,c, last six Imin 13|sec. Whether Lucrative will run in the Cup will be decided on Monday. M’Carten considers that the colt would run two miles, but the trainer, H. Freedman, will be guided by the owner's wishes. Gold Salute (New Zealand), prominent always, won the Cantala Stakes comfortably. Judean came second, and Remarc finished well in third place. Gladynev looked a winner a furlong from homo, but was unable to withstand a challenge. Saint Warden, who showed his best Melbourne form, was third, and Wilson a fair fourth. Gilltown gave a poor display, being third last.
