BEAU VUE S SIXTH SUCCESSIVE WIN CANTALA STAKES TO GCLD SALUTE V.R.G. MEETING MELBOURNE, November 3. Tha weather was dull, but there was a good attendance (or the first day of the. Victoria Racing Club’s Meeting at Flemington. The going was good, but a head wind militated against fast limes The Derby opened sensationally. Pandect was side-on whon the barrier rose and was further hampered by a collision with Warbird, and both were hopelessly > left. Lucrative, always well placed, resisted a challenge from Tranquil Star. Dark Felt surprised by securing third place. Tidal Wave finished well in fourth place, with Scientist and Nightbeam never dangerous. Pandect did well to beat five others home. M. M’Curten, the rider of Lucrative, said the colt always had the race won, and should have a great show in the Cup. Lucrative has now won £11,200 in stakes. Sectional times: First half-mile 524 sec, last four furlongs 4945e,c, last six Imin 13|sec. Whether Lucrative will run in the Cup will be decided on Monday. M’Carten considers that the colt would run two miles, but the trainer, H. Freedman, will be guided by the owner's wishes. Gold Salute (New Zealand), prominent always, won the Cantala Stakes comfortably. Judean came second, and Remarc finished well in third place. Mohican was fourth, and Bank Shaw a moderate fifth, but Amiable ran a poor race. Gold Salute bas now had three wins and a second in his last four starts. The New Zealander, Beau Vite, had his sixth successive victory by winning the Mackinnon Shakes. The other New Zealander, High Caste, was with him two furlongs from the post, but was outclassed in the final stages. Historian was a fair third. Maikai disappointed. Beau Vite has now won £18,410 in stakes. The pace was slow early, the first five furlongs taking Imin 3-lsec and the last four 48jsec. Beau Vite greatly pleased his Cup admirers. Session directed attention to her Oaks prospects by an impressive win in the Wakeful Stakes. Trueness was second and showed improved form, while Stylish was a good third. Munro, the rider of Session, won the Wakeful Stakes previously on Siren. The Ghncrack Stakes winner, All Love, outclassed the Marihyrnong Plate field. He cost 250 gs as a yearling, and has had two starts for two wins. He is one of the most promising youngsters of recent years. Portable finished well to boat Pyramus for place honours. The rider, D. Munro, won previously on Broadcaster and Fidelity. Dashing Cavalier directed attention to his Cup chance by a brilliant finishing effort in the Hotham Handicap. Gladynev looked a winner a furlong from homo, but was unable to withstand a challenge. Saint Warden, who showed his best Melbourne form, was third, and Wilson a fair fourth. Gilltown gave a poor display, being third last.

JOCKEYS SUSPENDED. H. Badger and .1. O'Sullivan were suspended for a month for crossing the field m the Derby and Hie Hotham Handicap respectively.
