Air Semple announced to-day that the Government had decided to withdraw the present enrolment form for the Home G.uard, and replace it with a simpler form which would not require persons to give an undertaking to accept their own liability for injury or accident. The form would ho for enrolment cither in the Home Guard or under the emergency precautions scheme, hi framing the questions on the enrolment form for the Home Guard the Government had no intention of persuading volunteers to contract themselves out of anything they may have been entitled to should they be disabled due to sex - - vice in the Guard. Although, in his previous statement, he made it clear that the Government would sympathetically consider any genuine cases that might arise in tho bourse of training it appeared that fl* ~ . a large number of pieople were hesitant to enrol because of the undertaking to accept liability which appeared in old form. “ The Government will accept liability for all accidents or injuries which can bo established as having arisen out of membership of the Homo Guard," said Afr Semple, ‘‘ but .naturally every care will be taken to prevent imposition or fraud.”--Press' Association.
