TURKEY’S ATTITUDE
WILL NOT ENTER WAR STUDYING MEDITERRANEAN SITUATION ISTANBUL, November 1. (Received November 2, at 11.15 a.rn.) President Inonu, in a speech in the Assembly, said Turkey would not enter the war, but was studying the Mediterranean situation. Turkey and Britain were studying the Balkans. “ While thinking of our own welfare,” he said, “ we are loyal to our friends and obligations, which are unshakeable. Foreign relations with Russia have gone through a critical period and taken a friendly turn. The Soviet policy in face of a dark world is one of greatest security. We have decided to act for the interest of the nation, not harming anyone. The country is financially sound midst a world economic crisis.”
