CONSECRATION AND ENTHRONEMENT
NEW BISHOP OF NELSON [Per United Press Association.] NELSON, November 1. The consecration and enthronement of the Bight Kev. P. W. Stephenson as the sixth Bishop of Nelson took place in the Cathedral to-day. The order of ceremonial was conducted by Archbishop West-Weston, assisted by the Bishops of Waikato, Dunedin, Auckland, and Aotearoa. Preaching the consecration sermon, Bishop Bennett extended a welcome to Bishop Stephenson on behalf of the diocese and the church throughout New Zealand. He congratulated the diocese on the appointment of a new bishop whose wide experience in parochial work, the missionary field, and education would prove useful in the further development of the influence of the church. He paid a -tribute to Bishops Hothouse, Sutor, Mules, Sadler, and Hilliard, whoso work had resulted' in the closest co-operaton between all the churches in Nelson.
St. John’s College in Manitoba has conferred the degree of doctor of divinity on Bishop Stephenson.
