FUNDS FOR FIGHTING FORCES WMK WARMLY PRAISED IV MINISTER [From Ode Paruauentas? Reporter.] . WELLINGTON, August 28.A marked falling off in the number %f applications made' by social and sports clubs for art unions to benefit directly their funds is observed by to* Minister of Internal Affairs (Mr Parry). This was attributed, the Minister said, not so much to the enlistment of men in the New Zealand Expeditionary Force and Royal Air Force, but to the splendid and patriotic devotion of social and sports clubs to th* work of raising funds for the men of the New Zealand fighting, forces. , “ A great work Has been done by many of the clubs,” Mr Parry said, ” in getting money .for the Sick, Wounded, and Distress Fund, and for the funds promoted and governed- by the National Patriotic Board All of clubs and institutions have joined in this nob!* work, and the men and_ women engaged in it are deserving of high commendation for their services."
