RUMOURS.

TO THE EDITOK. Sir, —At least six times on Monday the radio stations . announced “ The Acting Prime Minister will maike a very important statement early this evening, but we are unable to state what time it will be made.” During the course of “ the very important statement,” concerning the arrival of our troops in Egypt, Mr Fraser went on to speak about the many rumours which nave gained currency “ of the most disturbing character.” Surely he should have realised that the much-heralded and mysterious references to “a very important statement ” would bo the means of originating and spreading a large number of rumours regarding the reason for his appearance before the microphone. I can assure him that this was certainly the case, and that, furthermore, the numerous announcements had a very depressing effect on thousands of people who anxiously waited to hear 'his “ very important statement.” Hoping that in future he will speak to us without such stage effects as were prepared for him on Monday, and then there will be less cause for rumour.—l am, etc., No Inciting. .
