W.E.A. ACTIVITIES
HOMER AND HOLLYFORD GAMPS A- three weeks’ scries of W.E.A. classes was concluded last week at the Public Works camps at Homer tunnel and the Hollyford Valley. The lecturers were Mr H. H. Ferguson, M.A., and Air Angus Ross, M.A., both of Otago University, Airs Ross also assist-
ing. Mr Ferguson introduced the subject of psychology to many to whom it was new, and won the co-operation and keen interest of his audiences by including experiments in reaction times and reliability of evidence with each talk. Keen interest was also shown in Mr Ross’s talks on international issues. The men at the tunnel -works showed special eagerness to attend and join in the discussions, and the attendances were good, despite the fact that many were on shift work. Groups were formed at each camp for the study (by correspondence) of international issues and experimental psychology. On the return journey the party spent an evening at Lmnsdeji, where Mr Ferguson lectured on experimental psychology, and a group was formed to take the “ box course ” on this subject.
