SOUTH OTAGO NOTES

[From Our Correspondent.] PERSONAL. During the week-end members of the Milton Hockey Club paid a visit to one of their members who was recently married and has taken up residence at Kaitangata, Mrs E. Hall (nee Doris Littlejohn), and presented her with a barometer, and expressed wishes for her future happiness. 'Mrs Hall was secretary and captain of the 13 team, and had done much good work for the club. Mr and Mrs D. Bringans, who, after many years’ residence at “ Corydon,” Warepa, have decided to retire from farming to live at Alexandra, were prior to their departure entertained at a farewell function in' the Warepa Hall, the esteem in which the departing ones are held being evidenced by the largo attendance. During the course of an enjoyable function Mrs Bringans was presented with a bouquet on behalf of the W.l. andP.W.M.U. ladies, also with a travelling rung, while 1 Mr Bringans received a case of pipes, and both a roll of notes. Representatives of several organisations in the district paid tribute to the services rendered by Mr and Mrs Bringans, and wished them well in their retirement. Both recipients briefly and feelingly replied, after which supper was served. Dancing, interspersed with items, formed the entertainment for the evening.
