THE RESERVE FLEET REVIEW BY KING i (British Official Wireless.) Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright RUGBY, August 1. The full programme for the King’s review of the Reserve Fleet of 133 ships at Weymouth Bay on August 9 is announced. The King is due at Weymouth shortly before 10 a.m. At 10.25 the King, accompanied by ViceAdmiral Sir Max Horton, commanding the Reserve Fleet, will embark in the Royal barge and visit the aircraft carrier Courageous, the flagship Effingham, the cruiser Cardiff, the destroyer Exraouth, and if time permits,, another ship before luncheon. On board th® Courageous naval officers will be presented to His Majesty, who will also inspect 1,500 reservists. The King will again embark in th® Royal barge at 3 p.m. and inspect long lines of ships. The ships of the Reserve Fleet will begin to disperse in the evening, preparatory to exercising until the end of September. THE SMALLER GRAFT SUBSTANTIAL ADDITIONS. (British Official Wireless.)

The addition of 180 anti-submarine and patrol vessels to the Navy as part of the 1939 programme, at a cost of about £11,000,000, for which a supplementary estimate will be required, was announced in the .House of Commons, The additions include 107 trawlers for minesweeping and anti-submarine duties, of which 20 will he specially built, and 87 will be purchased and converted. It is also proposed to construct 58 vessels of the whale-catcher type—some for sendee as patrol vessels and some for anti-submarine duties —10 fleet mine-sweepers, six boom defence vessels, and one cable ship. . / A floating dock to accommodate small craft up to 5,000 tons has also been purcliased. . . , Further additions are in contemplation, the details of which will be an.- 1 nounced as soon as possible.
