PARENTS' AUXILIARY The July meeting of the Parents’ Auxiliary of the King Edward Technical College took the form of a visit to the trades section of the college. A large number of parents and others interested took the opportunity of meeting Mr J. Davidson, the head of this department, who, after a short description of the various practical activities which were open for inspection, arranged for visitors to bo conducted in small parties through the workshops, laboratories and class rooms. The sections observed included trade drawing, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, radio, typography, photocopying, welding, plumbing, pat-tern-making, joinery, and building. The visitors were impressed with the extensive modern equipment in use On completion of the tour of inspection Mr Davidson continued bis talk, outlining the objectives of the practical work which had been demonstrated. He stressed the necessity for the student to extend his theoretical knowledge concurrently with , the development of manual dexterity in the practical shops. At the conclusion of the lecture and demonstration a vote of thanks was passed to Mr Davidson and his staff. Refreshments were served bv the ladies of the Social Committee of the auxiliary.
