THE AMERICAN DEADLOCK BAD EFFECT ON BUSINESS Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright WASHINGTON, July 21. (Received July 22, at 9.15 a.m.) A message from Hyde Park states that President Roosevelt, at a Press conference, said: “ Refusal of the Senate to act this session regarding neutrality has killed off a nice little business boom, due to the uncertainty created in business circles, and will have an adverse economic effect until next January, when Congress will again be convened.”
The President said an analysis of 45 nation-wide newspaper editorials showed a widespread demand, regardless of political affiliations, for having something done to make the United States neutral and avert war.
