*»”■■■ RETURNED SOLDIERS V. POLICE An enjoyable social evening was spent on the C.F.H. rifle range on Wednesday. The occasion was the .annual friendly small arms match between members of the Returned. Soldiers’ Small Bore Rifle Club and the local Police Force. Four teams were in competition, and, although the actual match was between the 10 best shots from the R.S. Club and the Police Force, the interest of the evening was centred on the result of the shoot between the teams from the uniform branch and the plainclothes branch of the latter. Last year the honour went to the ; plain-clothes . branch, but upon this occasion the uniform branch Avon a decisive victory by 23 points. Mr J. Judson, who spoke on behalf of the R.S. Club, said that members of his club looked forward eagerly to this annual fixture. His remarks were reciprocated by Sergeant Taylor and King on behalf of the police.
