HOTEL PORTER’S THEFT
£l2 STOLEN FRDM WOMAN SIX MONTHS’ HARD LABOUR. [Per United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, July 19. Six months’ hard labour were imposed by’the magistrate (Mr Stout) on John Reuben Samuel Shepherd, hotel porter, for theft at Auckland on June 17 of £l2, the property. of. Kathleen Kamo. Accused became’ acquainted with a man keeping company with the complainant, and was told by him that she nad £l4 concealed in a drawer in »a sewing machine in her room at the hotel. Accused stole £l2 of it, sharing it with the other man, who had since been dealt with at Auckland.
