MAGISTRATE’S COURT
THURSDAY, JANUARY 26. (Before Mr J. R. Bartholomew, S.M.) UNDEFENDED CASES. Judgment by default was given in the following cases : Solomon, Gascoigne, Solomon, and Sinclair v. Raymond Edward Duncan, £4 Is 6d, for money advanced; Nimmo and Blair Ltd. v. Hop Lee, £2 10s, for goods supplied; A. Thompson and Son Ltd. v. J. P. Harvey (Christchurch), £7 7s sd, due under contract for sale of goods; M'Pherson Kemp and Co. Ltd. v. J. Hansen (Wyndham), £l4 17s 7d, for goods supplied. JUDGMENT SUMMONS. Under a judgment summons Allan E. Young proceeded against James F. Smith for £35 16s. An order for payment forthwith, with costs, was made, default of payment being fixed at one month’s imprisonment, the warrant to be suspended so long as defendant pays 30s a week, the first payment to be made on February 2. APPLICATION FOR POSSESSION. Ella Lister (Mr W. Ward) proceeded against William R. Best (Mr 0. G. Stevens) for possession of a house and rent £8 17s Id. After hearing evidence the court said there was no greater hardship on the plaintiff than on the defendant, and the order for possession which was asked for would be refused. An order for payment of rent (£8 17s Id) was made, without costs.
