GIRL FINDS MAORI WOMAN’S BODY. The body of Eri Hapeta Hemana, aged 39, married, and the mother of three children, was discovered Tester-' day afternoon/ lying in some scrub near the Atiamuri road about five miles from. Rotorua. The woman’s throat had been slashed with , a razor, which wa« lying near the body, The discovery was made by. a Maori girl, Ngatai Maka, who immediately communicated with the police; The woman lived in al house about 20 chains from where th» body was found. A note, apparently left by her, was 1 discovered in thaf house. BUSH WORKER KILLED. Donald Ewen Morrison, aged 62, a’ bush worker and contractor, was killed; when he fell beneath a rake of truck* at Mangorewa, near Rotorua, where ha was engaged on. bush contract, work, Morrison was apparently, riding on thej bogey of one of the trucks when he fell; off and was struck by the wheels, suf-j fering fatal injuries,, The trucks wer» derailed hy the accident. DEATH OF CHILD. Before Mr J. R. Bartholomew, S.M.* an inquest was opened yesterday to inquire into the death of Alan Malcolm' Cameron, a three-months’ old infant)' which died in the'Dunedin Hospital on Tuesday last, following an operation for a hare lip. Sergeant Johnsen conducted the inquiry. Evidence of identification was given by Alan lan Cameron, father of the deceased, who resides at 84 Queen street. Mr J. A* Jenkins, who operated on the child,* said that the anaesthetic was given by| Mr John (Ritchie and the operation was completed without difficulty, the deceased’s condition at that stage being satisfactory. While the operation was being dressed the deceased stopped breathing, although his heart continued to heat, but artificial, respiration failed to revive him. The proceedings ivere adjourned sine die to enable a post mortem examination to be made. 1 A MASTERTON RESIDENT’S DEATH. A verdict that death was caused by gas poisoning, self-administered while) financially worried, was returned byf the coroner at the conclusion of that inquest concerning the death of Alfred! Rippon, a well-known Masterton resident, who was found dead’in the Oddfellows’ , lodge_ room last Saturday.-) Press Association.,
