Investment Market To-day

AUSTRALIAN LEADERS HESITANT SELLERS IN MAJORITY TREND OTHERWISE LIFELESS While New Zealand issues remained sluggish under the influence of a “ wait-and-see ” policy, Australian industrials continued to drift on the investment market this morning, a reflection of luck of buying support. Most movements were of minor extent only, but two or three significant changes wore recorded. Business was again lifeless. ' Indicative of the dilatory tone was the reception given banking and insurance scrip. Only one buyer quoted in each section, while cautious vendors refused to alter limits. Offerings were again numerically poor. Huddart, Parker profs, continued to command attention, and although fairly good attention was accorded moat preserving and loan and agency issues values were comparatively steady. Regarded as an “ indicator stock,” Broken Hill Proprietaries lost appreciable way. Vendors at the weaker level of £2 17s could only attract a response at £2 16s 3d, at which the market closed. Coles were hesitant, while Sydney Woolworths remained in the doldrums. New Zealand issues showed practically no change, while the section as a whole was dominated by holders, who were in a 3-to-l majority'. Australian mining shared in the general lethargy. Morgans hovered round the 9s mark, Norths were easier, but other Barriers and Lyells, due in largo part to the absence of buyers, closed unchanged SALES REPORTED. —Late Yesterday.— National Bank of New Zealand, £2 Bs.
