INTRODUCTION OF NEW SPORTS Three sports not represented in Ihe Olympic Games arc now being considered in connection with the 11)41) meeting. They are basketball, gliding, and bowls. The Finnish Olympic Committee has been approached ''vitli a request that the Internation Olympic Committee ho asked to permit the inclusion of gliding contests. The Helsinki Howling Association has decided to consider the holding of a world’s howling championship immediately before the opening of the Olympiad in 1940. .Preparations for _ the games arc now going ahead rapidly. The Commissary of police state that it will be necessary to draft large contingents of police from other towns in order to cope with the crowds. New roads are being built loading to the Stadium, and they are, to he known as Olympic, Hollas, and Marathon si roots'. The Young Mon’s Christian Association intends to build a now hotel with two hundred bedrooms to accommodate visitors. It will cost about £60,000.
