DEATH OF SERGEANT BOULTON
EXPIRES SUDDENLY WHILE GARDENING The sudden 1 death occurred at TO o’clock this morning of Sergeant Paris Henry Claude Boulton. The deceased, a highly-esteemed and efficient police officer, was 63 years of age, and was due ? td retire bn superannuation, shortly. He was working in his garden at 236 North road this , morning, preparatory to moving in to the house there, when,he collapsed, and was dead when the doctor arrived. Sergeant. Boulton joined the polica force on September .1, 1900, . coming direct from ■■ three years’ service ‘as a gunner';in the New Zealand .Permanent Artillery. He was stationed first of all at Christchurch, and later served in the Wanganui and New Plymouth districts. On March 1, 1917, he was appeared to the .rank of sergeant, and sis years later took charge of the North' Dunedin station, where he remained to the time of his death. ‘ The deceased had always 'taken a keen interest in; sport, and occupied prominent positions in bowling and swimming circles. He was a fine swimmer in his young days, when residing at New Plymouth, and at, the .time of his death was a vice-president of the Kiwi Swimming Club and an ex-deputy-chairman of that body. He had recently been elected president of the North-east Valley Bowling Club,' and his cheery disposition and his skill at the game, made him ah ideal bowling companion. Sergeant Boulton was also deeply interested in volunteering when that movement was at its height. Ha was a member of the Masonic craft. A courteous and capable officer, he will be missed, not only by his comrades in the police force, but by thany citizens of: Dunedin.
