(Received October 29, at 10.30 a.m.) ' The ‘ Herald’s ’ Melbourne correspondent says the Federal Ministry will not attempt to introduce ' universal training for at least a year unless there is a collapse of the present system -of voluntary enlistment. In the meantime Federal Ministers support a vigorous campaign of recruiting for the militia. The Federal Cabinet reached these decisions after Ministers had heard Mr Lyons and Mr Thorby on the subject. The ‘ Herald’s ’ Canberra correspondent says consideration is being given by the Government to the establishment of a national defence register.
