The Washington correspondent of the Associated Press says: “ Ihe talk in Europe - that Germany may be given colonies in West Africa is arousing anxiety here. If the Peich got any of the numerous small colonics lining the western bulge of Africa her road to South America would be made much easier.” SURVEY OF PUBLIC OPINION IN BRITAIN LONDON, October 28. The ‘ News-Chronicle ’ publishes the results of a further survey of public opinion undertaken by the British Institute of Public Opinion. The questions were:— First, are you in favour of giving back any of the German colonies? Fifteen per cent, answered ‘‘ Yes,” and 85 per cent. 11 No.” Secondly, if your answer above is “ No,” would you rather fight than give them back P Seventy-eight per cent, said “ Yes,” and 22 per cent. “ No.” EAST AFRICAN CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE DECLAR AT lON FROM BRITAIN WANTED. NAIROBI, October 28. (Received October 29, at 1.30 p.m.) The East African Chambers of Commerce have passed a resolution requesting an irrevocable declaration from Britain that Tanganyika shall remain part of British East Africa, and urged the formation of the territories into a Customs, fiscal, and Administrative union under British sovereignty.
