CARNIVAL AT DE LUXE RINK
What promises to be the event of the season, the grand plain and fancy dress carnival, will be staged at the new De Luxe Rink, Pilleul street, opposite the Town Hall, on Saturday night, from 7.30 to midnight. Every effort has been made to make this outstanding event a success, and hats, caps, -streamers, balloons, novelties, and snowballs will be the order of the evening. Handsome prizes are being awarded for the best-dressed lady and gentleman, and the most humorous lady and gentleman. There will also be prizes for the various competitions. The grand march will commence at 9, at the conclusion-of which the costumes will be judged. Included also,on the programme will be the Otago ladies’ and men’s solo championships, and an exhibition by New Zealand’s Indv solo champion. The streamer battle and snowballs scene, with lighting effects, are also_ special features of the carnival. There is ample seating accommodation at this up-to-date rink for spectators, and it is expected that costumes of every hue ntid colour will bo seen amongst the skaters. Those ‘wishing to reserve their skates for Saturday night are asked to ring telephone 10-692.
