SCHOOLBOY'S FINE EFFORT
HIGH SCHOOL POLE VAULT RECORD Two competitors broke the existing record of Oft 6£in, held by K. W. Paterson, in the polo vault decided at the Otago Boys’ High School yesterday, these being H. A. Foote and K. \V. Paterson. The latter put up a remarkable effort by jumping 10ft 6iin, a performance good enough on many occasions to have won a New Zealand championship in the past. Bast year Paterson won the Otago junior pole
vault title with 10ft 2in. Foote, who won the handicap event, actually cleared Oft lOin, also a good effort. The result of the handicap was:— H. A. Foote (Ift), 10ft lOin 1 K. W. Paterson (scr), 10ft CJin ... 2 K. M. Gray (scr), 9ft Gin 3
