Th# newspapers announced that 12 Nazi commissioners, whom Herr Buerckel, the Nazi official who has virtually dictatorial power in Austria, had placed in charge of Jewish businesses, were arrested on charges of embezzlement Following these arrests, Herr Buerckel ordered a thorough examination into the whole confiscation of Jewish property.
