FURTHER RAIN UR HAIL WILL IMPROVE GRADUALLY The following weather forecast waa issued at noon by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, covering the southern districts—Dunedin, Port Chalmers, Tapanui, Winton, Invercargill, Riverton. Orepuki, Halfmoon Bay:— Pressure is still low, but is rising everywhere over the Dominion. Over eastern Australia there has been a further slight rise. Forecast: Moderate ta strong winds, between south-east and south-west, reaching gale force at times in exposed [positions. Weather unsettled, with further rain or hail, and, on the high country, snow. Later improving gradually. Temperatures cold; seaa rough to high. LOCAL CONDITIONS. Unsettled conditions were the rule in Dunedin over the week-end, light showers intermingling with steady fall* lasting some time. Though rain fell, temperatures were at a moderate level, while no frosts were recorded. At the Gardens at midday, the respective maximum-minimum thermometer registrations were 45deg and 43deg, as compared with 45.3 deg and 39.2 deg yesterday, and 43.5 deg and 37.3 deg on Saturday, over 24-hour periods: On Saturday over the same time, the rainfall amounted to .Olin, while until 9 this morning, .4in had fallen. There was a light south-south-westerly breeze this morning. Noon found the sky heavily overcast; and though the light showers prevalent early had passed for the time being, it seemed likely that further rainfall would he recorded during the afternoon.
