MAORI LANDS AT ORAKEI

ROYAL COMMISSION TO HEAR GRIEVANCES [Pee United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, July 4. The IRoyal Commission’ to consider grievances by the Maoris concerning laud transactions with the Crown at Orakei commenced its sitting this morning, but adjourned almost immediately until Monday next. Mr Justice Kennedy is chairman, Mr J. J. Sumvan represents the Maoris, Mr V. R. Meredith the Crown, and K. Forrest, the General Trust Board of the Anglican Diocese, which is interested in church property. . ■ , During the week Mr Justice Kennedy will inspect the areas of land involved. It was explained this morning that the delay until next week is due to a Supreme Court action -which has a bearing on the proceedings; also to enable counsel for the Maoris to consider the mass of documents relating to the Maori claims.
