DERBY NIGHT

BALL AT BUCKINGHAM PALACE SONG GIVEN BY AMERICAN GIRL CROONER Press Association —By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, June 2. (Received June S, at 8 a.m.) History was made at Buckingham Palace on the occasion of their Majesties’ first Derby night ball by the appearance of the American platinum blonde crooner, Evelyn Dali, aged 20, on a balcony overlooking the 1,000 guests. Miss Dali wore a backless frock, and was accompanied by Ambrose’s Orchestra, which supplanted the usual military band. She sang “ It’s Nice To Work If You Can Get It.’ It was a private ball, distinct from the usual formal palace functions. All the guests were their Majesties’ personal friends. The men wore evening dress, with breeches. The American Ambassador, Mr J. P. Kennedy, alone wore trousers. Their Majesties joined in the fox trots and modern waltzes.
