DERAILMENT AT POINTS
MISHAP TO SUBURBAN TRAIN [Pee United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, June 3. An unusual mishap caused the derailment of the engine on a suburban train from Henderson when the train was within about 100 yards of Auckland station this morning. Where the double tracks begin to curve across a high embankment a points system multiplies one track into two, and it was there that the derailment occurred. The train had slowed down, and instead of continuing down the central line the engine bore to the left, -'eat off the rails, and bumped across the sleepers into the scoria bed of the track. The mail van was off the line, snapping the heavy iron coupling, but the three carriages remained on the line. The passengers walked to the station platform and the line was soon cleared.
