An admission that the representations ho made were not founded on fact was made by Gordon Vincent Anderson in a statement read in the Magistrate’s Court to-day, when Anderson appeared on a charge of false pretences, involving £387 10s. He pleaded guilty, and was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. He was allowed bail in the sum of £3OO and one surety of £3OO. Anderson, a young man, was charged with tliat, between August 9, 1937, and January 7, 1938, with intent to defraud, he obtained £387 10s from William Andrew Erasmusson by falsely representing that it was part payment of £I,OOO of goods to be purchased by the Thomson Syndicate Nos. 4 and 5, Auckland. An acquaintanceship of about seven years was admitted by William Andrews Erasmusson, florist, of High street, who explained the proposition which he alleged accused made to him. Anderson, said witness, read to him certain letters which were represented to come from the Thomson Syndicate 4 and 5, Auckland. Anderson told witness that ho needed at least £330 for the Thomson Syndicate. Auckland, which intended to collect £I.OOO worth of sporting material in England. Witness paid over £230 in cash on August 9. 1937. and later paid over £IOO, with which he was to obtain an interest in the Thomson Syndicate No. 5. He did not receive any profit or any goods. He also advanced, smaller sinus. ■
