MURDER OF CHILDREN
FATHER’S DREADFUL HOMECOMING SEARCH FOR MISSING MOTHER BODY RECOVERED AT WORSER BAY [Feb United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, June 1. A shocking tragedy was disclosed this evening at Miramar, when Mr Colin Sandlant, a Wellington business man, on returning after his day’s work to his home at 76 Para street, found his three young children lying dead in the bathroom with their heads battered. His wife was missing. The dead are;— Roger Sandlant, a boy of five years. Denny Sandlant, a boy of three. A baby boy, aged six months. It is understood that Mrs Sandlant and the children were all alive and well this morning, and that they were seen hy_the-neighbours during the day when going about their customary activities. Mr Sandlant discovered the bodies of the children at 6.30 p.m., and as soon as he had informed the police a search was begun in the neighbourhood for the missing woman. Inspector J. Carroll took charge of the investigation. The bodies were taken to the morgue. At a late hour to-night there was no news of the whereabouts of Mrs Sandlant. Police constables remained on guard in the house. The Sandlants occupied the top flat of two. The family from the bottom flat went to stay with friends after the tragedy was discovered to-night. BODY FOUND ON ROCKS. WELLINGTON. June 2. A body, believed to be that of Mrs Mary Celia Sandlant, aged 29. was recovered from the rocks at Worser Bay at about 11.30 to-day, and taken to the morgue.
