TO-MORROWS WRESTLING

Tack Kennedy, the Irishman from Texas, who makes his Dunedin debut at the Town Hall to-morrow night against Pat Meehan, is a wrestler who is bound to appeal strongly to local enthusiasts. He is 6ft in, height and weighs over 16et, being built on particularly powerful lines, while the spectacular element is strongy featured in his mat work. Kennedy was a pupil of the famous Farmer Burns before he took up wrestling as a profession, and he. is, credited with having more holds in his kit than practically any other wrestler. He has a fine record, which includes a draw against Ray Steele and wins over Stanley Pinto, Abe Coleman, Gino Garibaldi, and Yvon Robert, the

last-named being one of the_ most highly-ranked wrestlers in America. In his ■ New Zealand bouts to date Kennedy has mingled ruggedness with skill and speed, the adroitness with which he can execute a manoeuvre like the flying toe-hold having repeatedly thrilled the crowds. Those who saw Meehan in his local bout against Blomfield will realise that the Canadian will be the ideal opponent for a man like Kennedy. He is splendidly endowed physically, and there is no doubt of his mastery over the wrestling art. Meehan has the rare quality of being able to show to advantage no matter what turn tho proceedings may take, whether they follow more or , less orthodox lines, or whether rougher measures are introduced.
