SWIMMING

M'GLASHAN COLLEGE SPORTS SOME GOOD PERFORMANCES The annual swimming sports of John M'Glashan College were held at the Municipal pool yesterday afternoon, the competition for the Mac Lean Cup for most points in interform contest being very keen. There were some good performances, and generally the swimming was of an improved standard, several of the competitors showing promise. The Mac Lean Cup was won by Form V. The junior and) senior diving produced some neat displays, and in the latter event a_ very close contest resulted in a win for C. Baker, with N. Buckley second and 11. Elvidge third. Buckley, a diminutive competitor, shaped very promisingly, obtaining height from the board and securing a good flight. Baker showed a little more boldness in take-off and flight, and won by a narrow margin, while Elvidge ana Buckley dived off for second place. C. Baker also accounted for the 66 2-3 yards breast stroke in 77sec after a good race with D. Clappertou, who also filled second place in the open back stroke event, won by D. Skinner. The 33 l-3yds free style cup race was won by Skinner, and the 100yds cup event by R. Elvidge very easily in 79sec.

In the junior division, A. Duke, who showed good form in several events, established a new record in the 33 l-3yds free style under 12, and although one of' the smallest boys taking part C. Speight showed promising style to win the 33 l-3yds open breast stroke, and also carried) off the junior dive. Results:—
