GOVERNMENT AND THE FARMERS.

TO THE EDITOR. ~ Sir, —lu Mr Hamilton’s speech last night he mentioned that tho farmers are not getting their value in butterfat, hut he fails to mention that the Labour Government paid the farmers a guaranteed price when they were not getting that price for the butter on tho market. Another clause he fails to mention is that the Labour Government raised! the wages to a docent standard of living. Under this Government I have managed to find my feet, but under the last Government, we went out of business owing to cutthroat prices and being able to work men for £1 to £1 10s a week. So the public want to watch the stepping stones, for one might sink. Men are working under bettor conditions, the conditions that Mr Seddon started and kept. Labourers and citizens, keep your work and your Government.—J am, etc.. Knur Working. Mav 10.
