AT THE CENOTAPH
APOSTOLIC DELEGATE LAYS WREATH The “Last Post” was sounded again at the Auckland Cenotaph this morning when the Apostolic Delegate, Archbishop Panico, laid a wreath on the memorial. The floral tribute bore the inscription; “For the valorous dead.” Guards of honour were formed by cadets of the Sacred Heart College and girls of St. Mary’s College, Ponsonby. The president (Mr J, W.. Kendall) and members of the executive of the Auckland Returned Soldiers’ Association formed a further guard. All the New Zealand and visiting prelates were present. In laying the wreath his Excellency was by the Mayor of Auckland (Sir Ernest Davis), Briga-dier-General Sir George Richardson, Monsignor King, 0.8. E., captain chaplam of the Australian Forces, and Mr T. Laffey, chief centenary marshal. The assemblage stood at attention for the playing of the National Anthem by the Waverley Orphanage Boys’ Band.
