OTAGO HIGH SCHOOL
SiVENTY-FfFTH ANNIVERSARY A' meeting of the executive which is arranging for the seventy-fifth anniversary of the Otago Boys’ High School was held last night. There were present Messrs F. H. Campbell (chairman), W. J. Strong, W. F. Watters, J. M. Fraser, E. C. Reynolds, E. J. Smith, R. W. S. Botting, J. C. H. Somerville, W.R. Brugh, A. J. Gillman, and Dr Begg. Sir John Sinclair, Messrs W. Reid, A. Kilgour, P. M. B. Muir, and James Smith wrote conveying thanks for election as vice-patrons. The following programme was ap- - Wednesday, August 3: Usual ceremony at the school on Foundation Day. Saturday, August 20: School football tournament, New Plymouth v. Souths land, Christchurch v. Otago. Picture party in the evening. Sunday, August 21: Church service at 11 a.m. Monday,’August 22; Historical meeting at school at 9 a.m. Anniversary dinner at 7 p.m. Tuesday, August 23; Football tournament. * Christchurch v. Southland, New Plymouth v. Otago, _ Entertainment of High School boys in the evening. Wednesday, August 24: Old boys’ ball. Other functions, such as a garden party, golf matches, etc., will be arranged. Details will be published later. . It,was resolved that the various subcommittees meet and submit reports to the Finance Committee, and that reports from all sub-committees be submitted to the next meeting of the executive, to be held on March 24. The question of issuing' a souvenir magazine was discussed and was referred to the Publicity and Advertising Committee for a report. It was reported that arrangements would have to be made to billet the teams from the visiting schools taking part in, the football tournament, and the following were appointed a Billeting Committee:— Messrs Watters (convener), E. J. Smith, J. C. H. Somerville, A. J. Hillman, and G. Webster, with power to add. The appointment of » Women’s Committee was deferred to a future meeting.
