CAPETOWN PICTURE, NOW WORTH £5,000 * The Taxidermist,’ a picture in the Michaelis collection which it as present on exhibition at the Mauritsbuis, The Hague, Holland, has suddenly become famous. _ It has been established as a genuine Rembrandt by Dr Abraham Bredius, the world Dutch authority on Rembrandt, who examined it at The Hague a short while ago. The picture left Cape Town worth £SOO and will return Worth at least £5,000. It will'be the only Rembrandt in South Africa. For the past six years a controversy has raged as to whether this picture ■was the work of Rembrandt, or that of an obscure Dutch artist. Dr Bredius’s opinion can bo considered as having definitely settled this controversy.
